12A - 103mins - Action / Drama / Romance - December 10, 2010

Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie star in this action romance as Frank and Elise. While on vacation in Italy to recover from a broken heart, Frank mathematics teacher, has the care of their business on a train when Elsie was sitting opposite him. They strike up a bond, and Frank thinks it's his lucky day when he works in her later. Unfortunately for him, it did not happen to come across, but the scheme of the Elise to use it as bait for the protection of her lover, Alexander Pearce, who is wanted man.

As no one knows what it looks like Alexander Frank finds himself in the middle of deliberate misunderstanding, which puts him in the firing line of the mafia, of whom a large sum of money was stolen and the British government for tax evasion led by Chief Inspector Jones (Timothy Dalton), a Scotland Yard's John Acheson (Paul Bettany)

The main drawback is that this movie contains the top-list celebrities in Hollywood, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, all set in the beautiful city of Venice, which means that it will be a feast to watch. Standards are set high. However, not only did I find film to be obvious in the way-I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting, and even want to see what will happen, but there was no chemistry between Depp and Angelina Jolie at all.

It was good to see Depp as 'normal' character and I think that was wrapped in a make-up and did not seem to have any character flaws or extreme quirks that usually accompany their other roles. It was he who kept the film interesting for me. No, I did not fully understand the character Bettany. Approved in some sort of revenge against Pearce, but he just does not seem plausible, and was too obsessed to the point that was released with some gross misconduct charges.

action scenes are well done and impressive settings, but you get the feeling that the film has not worked out if this is comedy, action and romance. That movie can be all three, but not all of them Travel brings together the viewer gets a bit detached from the story. And why do people find it necessary to put Jolie in a stunning dress for every scene with people gawping it is beyond me. Do not get me wrong, I love a little eye candy, but the film turned into something more like perfume commercial or magazine instead of film.

Finally, although I was quite entertained while watching it, I now feel no real desire to ever see. Venice and the building to add a nice visual appeal of the film, but I needed more that interests me. Wait for it's appearance on the TV, if you have any desire to see him.
