Visitors holding a tourist visa should be extra careful in handling their travel documents in order to avoid subjected to accelerated removal.
In recent years, DHS has begun to implement strict Immigration and Nationality Act (INA for brevity) against foreigners seeking entry into the United States and especially to the holders of U.S. tourist visas. This is an active move by the government brought about by an increased number of violent crimes and terrorist activities in the county.
In 2008 alone, the Office of Immigration Statistics Annual Report stated that the Department of Homeland Security, or DHS's 792,000 foreign nationals arrested for violation of the INA and the 97 000 known criminal aliens in the country. Approximately 359,000 aliens were removed from the U.S. a.113.500 or 32% of total removal through rapid removal.
Expedited deportations also known as rapid removal is defined by the INA as a process by which the Department of Homeland Security through the immigration officer may order the alien removed. This serves as a first line of defense against illegal entry.
